Chalk It Up!
National Health Care Day of Action
Scheduled for August 22, 2006

Chalk It UpPROVIDENCE (July 20, 2006) - Nearly 46 million Americans are uninsured.  At least 18,000 people die each year because they don’t have health insurance.  We may not see a chalk outline at a crime scene for those Americans who die because they lack insurance, but it’s just as criminal.

Chalk it up to inaction or misplaced priorities, but now is the time for our leaders to draw a new conclusion about our nation’s health care crisis.

Join thousands of Health Care Voters at coordinated rallies across the country on August 22! Check back often for new updates and a list of events and locations near you.

What is Fair Share Health Care?
April 12 FSHC Lobby Day 1Health care costs are skyrocketing and more and more of Rhode Island's working families and small businesses are losing their health care coverage every year.

At the same time, some of the largest, most profitable corporations in the state are making it close to impossible for their employees to access the health care they need.

That's why we're supporting the Fair Share Health Care Act that would require the largest companies in Rhode Island to contribute a reasonable percentage for their employees' health care, or else pay into a state health care fund to cover more Rhode Islanders.

Fair Share Health Care Coalition partners include Rhode Island for Health Care, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Jobs with Justice, and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), as well as dozens of other community organizations, small businesses and Health Care Voters across the state.
